William C. Poutre, 77, of Ottawa, passed away on Saturday, January 29, 2022 at the Ottawa Pavilion, surrounded by his loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, February 4, 2022 at Zion Lutheran Church, with Rev. David Daniel, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Friday, at the church. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa. Due to current State of Illinois guidelines, face coverings will be required.
William was born on December 13, 1944 in Ottawa, to Lester and Lucile (Struel) Poutre. He was a graduate of Ottawa High School and was a member of the 1962 football team inducted into the Hall of Fame. He married Marilyn Calkins on January 13, 1973. Bill was the co-owner of TriCounty Beauty until 1994, and then worked for MidCity/Salon Centric. He was a well-respected sales representative for 47 years. Bill went on to be a docent for LaSalle County Historical Society. He loved conversing with all the people and telling them of all LaSalle County history. Bill was a member of the Waltham School Board and also an elder for Zion Lutheran Church for many years. Bill loved fishing, golf, and his beloved Yankee baseball team. Most of all, Bill loved time spent with his family. He loved the many family vacations and family holiday celebrations. Bill will be so deeply missed.
Bill is survived by his wife, Marilyn of 49 years; three children, Matthew Poutre of Rushville, IL, Adam (Rebecca) Poutre of Ottawa and Tyler (Jennifer) Poutre of South Hamilton, MA; four grandchildren, Ethan, Emerson, Carter, and Cora; and a granddaughter to be born soon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Judith Trempalla; and a brother, Ken Poutre.
Pallbearers will be Jeff Calkins, Doug Schiffbauer, Kevin Schiffbauer, Nathan Holland, Michael Holland, and Ethan Poutre.
He was laid to rest in the Garden of the Ten Commandments.
