Harold L. “Big H” Carlson, 66, of Ashton, formerly of Marseilles, passed away October 16, 2021, at Serenity Hospice House in Oregon, IL.
Funeral services will 7 p.m. Friday, October 22 at Seals-Campbell Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. prior to services at the funeral home. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa, IL at a later date.
Harold was born March 16, 1955, in Ottawa, IL, to William and Imogene (Hallam) Carlson. He was married to Shari Carter for 33 years until she passed away unexpectedly in 2015.
He attended Marseilles Grade School and Marseilles High School. He worked for many years in the drilling and blasting industry, and he owned Drill Pro Inc. and operated it along with his father and sons. At the age of sixteen, Harold was the youngest person in IL who was licensed to handle explosives.
He is survived by his children, Darren (Ashley), John (Callie Schmidt), Morgan (Teri Lenarz), and Lacy (Dale Swanson); seven grandchildren, Addyson, Blake, Lauren, Will, Riley, Reagan, and Xander; one great-grandchild, Aspyn; his beloved fiancé, Kate Evanch; his in-laws, Wanda, Millie, Linda, Delores, Betty, Darlene, and Jerry; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Shari; and one grandson, Fadel Abbas.
In lieu of the flowers, memorials may be directed to the Ashton Fire Department.
