Dorothy A. Whiteaker, 94, of Sheridan, IL passed away Friday, April 30, 2021 at her home surrounded by her loving family. She was born November 9, 1926 in Sublette, IL, the daughter of Elmer and Clara (Glaser) Fischer. She married Robert L. Whiteaker on December 9, 1955 in Sycamore, IL. She was a member of St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church. She was an avid Chicago Cubs fan and enjoyed watching college basketball. Most of all she loved spending time with her family.
She is survived by her four children; James (Pam) Whiteaker, Judy (Terry) Hapke, Curt (Leona) Whiteaker, and Jerry Whiteaker; her five grandchildren Jeremy (Lib) Whiteaker, Ryan (Samantha) Whiteaker, Nathan (Maddie) Whiteaker, Lauren (Dan) Hitchins, and Scott (Cindy) Hapke; fourteen great grandchildren Kendall, Tucker, Claire, Rhett, Judson, Nash, Dax, Coy, Tate, Piper Whiteaker, Bo and Johnny Hitchins, Sam and Jack Hapke, one on the way; and several nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her parents; and one brother Richard (Pat) Fischer.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at St. John’s the Baptist Catholic Church in Somonauk, IL with Reverend Kevin Butler officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa, IL. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Turner-Eighner Funeral Home in Somonauk, IL.
She was laid to rest in the Garden of Inspiration.
