Edmund J. Marco, 78, of Serena passed away peacefully at home surrounded by the love and prayers of his family on Tuesday, August 6, 2019.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am, Friday, August 16 at St. Joseph Church in Wedron, with Rev. John Waugh officiating. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 pm, Thursday, at Ottawa Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place at Oakwood Memorial Park at a later date.

Ed was born May 14, 1941, in Ottawa to Edmund L. and Stevonia B. (Blecich) Marco. He married Sharon Weidig on August 18, 1962. Ed was a graduate of St. Patrick’s Grade School and Marquette High School. He retired from Advanced Asphalt and was a life-long farmer. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Wedron, Serena Lions Club, Retired Teamsters Local 722, the Serena Volunteer Fire Department, and was a member of the Serena FFA Alumni Association.

Ed will be remembered throughout the countryside for his love of family, kind heart, generosity, humorous “one-liners” that his family loved to hear, and for perfecting the art of conversation.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon; one son, Jeff (Patty) Marco; two daughters, Amy (Dale) Hoyd and Lisa (Gary) McNelis; ten grandchildren, Nick and Jackie Marco, Ella, Madeline, Luke, and Julia Hoyd, and Garett, Lauren, Hannah, and Keira McNelis; his sister, Judy Norris; his brother-in-laws­­ Lawrence Weidig and Mike Cully; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, John Marco.

Pallbearers will be Dale Hoyd, Gary McNelis, Nick Marco, Luke Hoyd, Garett McNelis, Larry Weidig, and Randy Rosengren.

The family would like to extend their deepest gratitude to Candace, Stephanie and Patricia from Compassus Hospice and to his devoted caregiver, Bo, for the loving care that was given to him during his illness.

He was laid to rest in the Garden of the Ten Commandments.
