Martha M. Day, age 94, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, November 1, 2019 at Pleasant View.
Funeral services with Women of the Moose Rites will be held 11:30 a.m. Saturday, November 9th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with the Reverend Duane Kaufman officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. till service time Saturday. Pallbearers will be Alan Wilson, Neil Battles, Shawn Day, Sean Sexton, Jim Rich and Tim Rich. Honorary pallbearers will be Bobby Falling and David Falling.
Martha was born September 10, 1925 in Streator, Illinois, a daughter of Harvey and Nellie (Muck) Gwaltney. She married William Day September 10, 1944 in Streator. He preceded her in death March 31, 1974. Surviving are her children, Mary Louise (Day) Wilson, Marie (Day) Stapleton and Russell Eugene (Ludina) Day; and a daughter-in-law, Rita Day. She also leaves grandchildren, Earnest Alan Wilson, Catherine Louise Hoffman, Mike, Eugene, Shawn and William Day, Tina Marie Chadwick, Dawn Parker, Tim and Jim Rich, Tonya and Ronnie Walker; as well as numerous great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren and great-great-great-grandchildren. Martha was preceded in death by a son, Lester James Day; a daughter, Patricia Walker; sons-in-law, Earnest Wilson, Jr. and Bill Stapleton brothers, Otis, Omer, Walter, Ralph, Chuck, Peony and Don Gwaltney; and sisters, Jean Dallas, Reba Burkett and Irene Farrell.
Martha was formerly employed at Owens Glass in Streator and later at AT&T in Montgomery from which she retired. She was a member of the Women of the Moose of the Ottawa Moose Lodge. Her leisure time would find her doing crochet, playing cards or Bingo. She treasured time spent with her family, particularly her grandchildren.

Martha has been laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.
