Judith A. DeGeare, 78, of Naplate passed away Sunday, August 25, 2019 in Peoria.
Funeral Services will be at 11 am, Saturday, August 31 at Ottawa Funeral Home, with Rev. David Kipfer officiating. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 am, prior to services, at the funeral home. She will be buried in Oakwood Memorial Park.
Judy was born October 6, 1940, in Ottawa to Armand and Eunice (Galli) Herzog. She married Ronald DeGeare on May 9, 1959 at St. Mary’s Church in Naplate.
Judy attended Hills Elementary School in Naplate and graduated from St. Xavier’s (Marquette Academy) in 1958. She had a passion for cooking and baking. She worked at Westclox in LaSalle, Union Carbide (Bakelite) in Ottawa, Doris Ravlin Retirement home in Ottawa, where she earned her Sanitation Certificate, and the Daily Times in Ottawa. She was a member of St. Mary’s Church in Naplate.
She is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Ron; one daughter, Kim DaSilva of Peoria; one sister, Mary Magana of Ottawa; her sister-in-law, Rhonda DeGeare of Pleasant View, TN; her nieces, Joan Quillin of Ottawa, Cindy (Walter) Weiland of Mendota, and Kahla (Mike) Boe of Ottawa; her nephews, Rob (Lori) Burke of Streator, Mike (Megan) Magana of Plainfield, and Jeremy Magana of Ottawa; great-nieces, Sarah Quillin of Chicago, Kelli Quillin of Chicago, and Sydney, Sadey, Sarah, Shelby, and Selenah Magana of Plainfield; her great-nephew, James Michael Boe of Ottawa; and her grand-dogs, Jake and Bella.
Judith was preceded in death by her parents, her sister, Joyce Crawford; her brother-in-law, Don DeGeare; and her mother-in-law, Anne Yednock.
Pallbearers will be Walter Weiland, Michael Boe, James Boe, Kirk Silver, Robert Rick, and John Nevins.
Judith was laid to rest in The Garden of Inspiration.
