Phyllis (Newell) Tabor, 95, of Ottawa, died on Tuesday morning, December 26, 2017 at Pleasant View. Funeral services will be at 11a.m. on Thursday, January 4, 2018 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. Carolyn Lukasick, Pastor of Epworth United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will be at a later date. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
Phyllis was born on September 19, 1922in Ophir TWP to Eli and Innocent (Bankes) Newell. She was a graduate of Mendota High School and St. Mary’s Hospital for Nursing. During WWII Phyllis served as a First LT. in the US Army at the 65th Field Hospital in the European Theatre, Rhineland. She married Jacob A. Tabor on July 11, 1947 in Ottawa. Phyllis was Registered Nurse for 43 years. She was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church, the Women’s Club, and volunteered for the American Cancer Society.
She is survived by her son Gary (Gayleen) Tabor, of Ottawa, 2 grandchildren, Gary L. (Dawn) Tabor, Jr., of Ottawa and Emily (Zach) Kleidon, of Ottawa, and 3 great grandchildren Pearce Tabor, Madison Clowers, and Cash Nilles.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jacob in 1982, and 3 brothers Gale, Don, and Dale Newell. Honorary Pallbearers will be Gary Tabor, Jr., Emily Kleidon, Pearce Tabor, Madison Clowers, and Cash Nilles.

Phyllis has been laid to rest in the Garden of Devotion.
