Lynda Schafer, 75, of Ottawa died on Tuesday afternoon, July 3, at her home. Funeral Services will be at 10 a.m. on Monday, July 9, in the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with the Rev. Kim Jewett, Pastor of Grace Community Church in Streator, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home.
Lynda was born on June 20, 1943, in Savannah, Illinois to Fred F. and Doris (Potter) Buttels. She attended Nursing School at Rockford Memorial Hospital, Rockford College, Copley Hospital and Aurora College. Lynda was a Registered Nurse in Sandwich and Sheridan before joining the staff at Community Hospital of Ottawa where she was the Nursing Supervisor until her retirement. She married William R. Schafer on Dec. 12, 1964 in Sandwich.
She is survived by children, Robin (Jon) Fisher, of Plainfield, Scott (Melissa) Schafer, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Kellie (Robert) Brust, of Sycamore, 5 grandchildren: Brandon, Andrew, and Hannah Schafer, Emily and Nathaniel Fisher, and one brother, Gilbert (Irma) Buttels, of Sandwich.
She was preceded in death by her husband and best friend in 1995, 2 children in infancy, and her parents. Pallbearers will be Scott and Andrew Schafer, Nathan and Jon Fisher, Robert Brust, and Jim Ceja.

Lynda has been laid to rest in the Garden of Prayer.
