Zella Jean Garrison, of Marseilles, Ill. was called home by our Heavenly Father on Saturday, March 3, 2018 at the age of 91.
Zella was born February 17, 1927 in Loda, Ill. to parents Elmer S. and Aulta (Keist) Garrison. She grew up as a member of a large family with 12 siblings. After graduating from high school, she worked as a secretary at Owens Illinois in Streator until her retirement in 1980. Zella lived in the Illinois Valley area most of her life enjoying close ties with her brothers and sisters. During retirement, she was involved with the area libraries as a volunteer and pursued the study of genealogy centering on family roots. Zella loved the outdoors and enjoyed vegetable gardening, flower gardening, and yard work.
Zella is survived by her son, Charles Garrison of Houston, Tx.; three grandchildren, Shane Garrison of Naperville, Michelle Goodin of Federal Way, Wa., and Jason Garrison of Ennis Tx.; six great-grandchildren, Jakob, Chase, and Sophie of Naperville, Trace and Teague of Federal Way, and Olivia of Ennis. Also surviving are brothers, Elmer Jr. (Bunky) Garrison of Streator and Russell Garrison of Barstow, Ca.; and sisters, Carol Cain of Ottawa, Judith McLennan of Ottawa, Cheri Wujek of Galesburg, and Nancy Price of Broughton, Ill.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by parents, Aulta and Elmer; brothers, Merle Garrison of Marseilles, Robert Garrison of Streator, and Verneal Garrison of Ottawa; and sisters June Barth of Marseilles, Ruth Clippinger of Danville, and Marcia Crouch of Ottawa.
Zella’s final rest, with our prayers is at Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa. Ottawa Funeral Home and Crematory has been entrusted with cremation rites.
