Joyce was born March 25, 1935 in Mendota, Illinois to Raymond and Retta (Hitchens) Fessler. She retired from the Human Resources department at Libby Owens Ford/Pilkington. Joyce was filled with lots of joy. She always said to put Jesus first, others second, and yourself last. Virtually everyone in her circle of family and friends would receive her gifts of love from the oven. She was a woman devoted to God, family, and charity. A devoted member of First Baptist Church of Ottawa, she spent many hours working tirelessly in service to her faith. Selflessness was her nature. She never stopped helping others; whether it was baking, crocheting, or just offering a prayer. Her garden was her pride and joy. But what she cherished most was the life she was given. Dearly missed by those she left; dearly welcomed into the heavenly kingdom.
She is survived by her children, Rhonda (Mark) Templeton and Rodney (Kathy) Learned; four grandchildren, Taylore Castelli, Justin, Brett, and Dakota Learned; her sister-in-law, Ronna Fessler; and her nephew, Jim Fessler.
She is preceded in death by her parents; and her brother, Willis Fessler.
Pallbearers will be Jim Fessler, Justin, Brett, and Dakota Learned, Jeff Johnson, and Mark Templeton.
Memorials may be directed to her family.
Joyce has been laid to rest in the Garden of Devotion.
