Glenn Marten, 93, of rural Ottawa died on Friday, October 6, at his home. Funeral Services will be at 12:00 noon on Monday October 9, in Bethel Lutheran Brethren Church in Ottawa with the Rev. Tim Johnson, Pastor, officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11:45 a.m. at the church. Arrangements are through the Mueller Funeral Home.
Glenn was born on Nov. 9, 1923 at home to Otto and Emma (Breyer)Marten. He farmed his entire life in Fall River Township until retiring in 1989. He married Helen P. Eltrevoog on Nov. 25, 1951 at Bethel Lutheran Brethren church. He was a member of the Church and the LaSalle County Farm Bureau.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Helen, 2 daughters, Glenda (William) Meyer and Paula Wallace, both of rural Ottawa, 3 grandchildren, Melinda Meyer and Jillian Meyer, and Bryce Wallace, and 2 great grandchildren, Thomas William “Liam” Wallace, and Avery Wallace.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Lester and Harold Marten, a sister, Arlene Cole, a son-in-law Thomas Wallace and 2 grandchildren in infancy, Gilda Anne and William Joseph Meyer.
Memorials may be directed to the Bethel Lutheran Brethren church, Tell it Again Radio Program, the Kids Club, or the Grand Ridge Fire Department.
Glenn has been laid to rest in the Garden of Psalms.
