Flora Belle Hertzner, age 98, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, September 30, 2017 at her residence with her loving family by her side.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, October 4th at St. Columba Church with Reverend David Kipfer officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday with prayers at 3:45 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be David Hertzner, Jr., Albert Hertzner, Gerald Arnold, Frank, Peter and Albert Alfano, Gregory Snell, Jr., James and Aaron Snell.  Honorary pallbearer will be William Arnold.

Flora was born June 15, 1919 in Ottawa, a daughter of William Curtis and Ora (Stricklin) Angell.  She married Albert Hertzner January 1, 1937 in Ottawa.  He preceded her in death December 2, 2002.  Surviving are her children, Ruth Ann Arnold of Grand Ridge, Janet (Pete) Alfano of Galesburg and Judy Snell of Ottawa; and a sister, Delores Marshall of Ottawa.  She also leaves 22 grandchildren, 46 great-grandchildren and 32 great-great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by a son, David Hertzner; three grandchildren, Lisa Ann Snell, Curtis Lee Hertzner, and Karen Lucio; four great-grandchildren; three brothers, Edwin, Arthur and Francis Angell; a sister, Erma Angell; and sons-in-law Rex Arnold and Greg Snell.

Flora was a member of St. Columba Church where she had served as a Eucharistic Minister and was past president of the Altar and Rosary Society.  She was a retired division manager for Sears Roebuck.  Flora enjoyed crochet and was involved in social groups such as Bridges where she participated in the exercise group, bowling league and made afghans for our soldiers; and the Twilight Travelers camping group.

Flora has been laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.
