Frank W. Stewart, 93, of Ottawa, died early Monday morning, July 3, 2017 at the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at the Mueller Funeral Home in Ottawa, with Rev. David Ufkes, officiating. officiating. Burial will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park, where full military rites will be accorded by the American Legion Post 33 Veteran’s Group Honor Guard. Visitation will be from 9 to 11 a.m. on Saturday, at the funeral home.
Frank was born on February 13, 1924 in Marseilles to Frank and Rose (Noone) Stewart. He married Martha Lou Melland on January 9, 1945 in Ottawa, she preceded him in death May 8, 1986. Frank was a US Navy veteran of WWII. He worked for Northern Illinois Gas in Ottawa, until his retirement in 1985. He is survived by a daughter, Marsha (Kevin) Killelea, of Ottawa, a son Martin Stewart, of Winchester, VA, 4 grandchildren, Kathy (Joe) Cavalier, Kevin (Ann) Killelea, Bradley (Iulia Borovic) Stewart, and Brenda Stewart (Noor) Khan, and 12 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Martha, and a brother Robert.
Memorials may be directed to the Illinois Veteran’s Home in LaSalle.
Frank has been laid to rest in the Garden of Hymns.
