Quinten Odum, age 97, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at the LaSalle Veterans Home.
Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, April 8th at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Reverend John Nordstrom officiating. Entombment will follow in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum at Oakwood Memorial Park with military honors by the Ottawa Veterans Organization. Visitation will be from 10:00 to 11:00 A.M. Saturday. Pallbearers will be John Odum, Tim, Luke and Maggie Sajewski, Michael and Nick Sexton.
Quinten was born September 14, 1919 in Carrier Mills, Illinois, a son of Orb Briton and Neppie (Davis) Odum. He married Irma Marie Giacomini November 24, 1938 at St. Mary’s Catholic in Naplate. She preceded him in death October 27, 2002 Surviving are his son, Gene (Luann) Odum of Ottawa; grandchildren, Karen (Tim) Sajewski, John (Lisa) Odum and Mary Jo (Mike) Sexton; great-grandchildren, Luke and Maggie Sajewski and Nick and Kate Sexton; and a sister, Virginia (Bruce) Cumming. He was preceded in death by a brother, Charlie Odum; and two sisters, Bessie Parkes and Rosalie Burke.
Quinten proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II and was retired from Libbey Owen Ford. Memorial contributions may be made to the LaSalle Veterans Home, 1015 O’Conor Avenue, LaSalle, IL 61301.
Quinten has been laid to rest in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum, Sanctuary of Life.
