WARRENVILLE — Mary “Kay” Smith, 78, a resident of Warrenville, passed away peacefully Saturday, Dec. 31, in Illinois, surrounded by her loving family.
She was born Oct. 31, 1938, in Peoria, and was adopted by her loving parents, Harvey and Gladys Sheppard, on Oct. 15, 1939.
Kay graduated from Roberts Thawville High School and attended Northern Illinois College. She married Terrence E. Smith on July 20,1963.
Kay enjoyed raising her two daughters and spending time with her family. She loved to travel, read and play and watch sports. One of her favorite hobbies was boating with her family and friends at Starved Rock Yacht Club for 53 years.
Kay is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Terry Smith, of Warrenville; and her daughters, Dawn Rolison, of Cedarburg, Wis., and her children, Khendel and Ella Rolison; and Kristie (Steve) Szejner, of Elmhurst, and their children, Samantha and Kyle.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Hultgren Funeral Home, 304 N. Main St., Wheaton, where a funeral service will also be at 10 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6. Interment will follow services in Oakwood Memorial Park in Ottawa.
In lieu of flowers, it is encouraged that memorial gifts be directed to the Alzheimer’s Association, 225 N. Michigan Ave., Fl. 17, Chicago, IL 60601.
Kay has been laid to rest in the Garden of the Last Supper.
